NomiPad vs EmEditor
EmEditor is one of the most capable large-file editors on Windows. NomiPad is a simpler notepad that handles huge files on macOS, Windows and Linux. Here is where each one fits.

When EmEditor is the better choice
- You work on Windows and need spreadsheet-like CSV work: sorting, filtering, pivoting and joining big data files.
- You want macros, plugins and deep customization in a single power tool.
- Your files are far beyond what we have measured NomiPad on (we publish numbers for 1 GiB, here).
When NomiPad is
- You’re on macOS or Linux, or switch between systems and want the same editor everywhere.
- You want a small, fast notepad that opens the 2 GB log instantly, lets you fix a line and save, and gets out of the way.
- You care that saving never changes the file’s encoding, byte-order mark or line endings, and that a file changed by another program is never overwritten without a question.
- You also write Markdown and want it rendered as you type.
