Why a notepad
Anyone who works with logs, data exports or other people’s files knows the moment: the file is only text, yet the editor freezes, refuses it, or opens it with every useful feature switched off. And after a one-line fix, the save quietly changes the encoding or every line ending, and the whole file shows up as changed.
NomiPad is built for that moment. It opens huge files instantly, lets you edit and save them, and leaves every byte you didn’t touch exactly as it was. It is also a pleasant place for everyday notes, Markdown and code.
What we promise
- Your file stays your file. Encoding, byte-order mark and line endings are kept; NomiPad asks before changing any of them.
- No silent overwrites. If another program changed a file after you opened it, saving stops and asks.
- No telemetry. NomiPad has no analytics or tracking, and your files never leave your computer.
- Honest numbers. Every performance figure on this site comes from our automated test suite, with the conditions next to it. See benchmarks.
- Free to use. Every feature is in the free version. NomiPad Pro removes the start-up reminder and the tab limit, and pays for NomiPad’s development.
